ABOUT
Working Together for Inclusion in Westfield
Westfield is home to three connected, but distinct groups supporting people with disabilities and their families. Each plays a unique role — together, they form a network of advocacy, resources, and community building.
Westfield Family Network
Who we are: A community-based initiative powered by families, neighbors, and partners who want to support one another.
Focus: Creating opportunities for connection, sharing resources, and celebrating inclusion in everyday community life.
Unique role: The Family Network is community-focused — it brings families together for belonging, friendship, and shared advocacy beyond schools or city government.
Westfield Mayor’s Council on Disabilities
Who we are: A city-appointed council of community members, advocates, and leaders working directly with the Mayor’s office.
Focus: Building a more inclusive community through policy, accessibility, and awareness efforts across the City of Westfield.
Unique role: The Council is city-focused — it ensures Westfield’s services, businesses, events, and infrastructure are welcoming and accessible to all.
Westfield Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC)
Who we are: A district-level parent advisory group made up of families of students receiving special education services in Westfield Washington Schools.
Focus: Partnering with school leaders to improve special education programs and ensure family voices shape decisions.
Unique role: SEPAC is school-focused — it’s where parents and educators collaborate for stronger educational experiences and outcomes for students with disabilities.
How They Work Together
While each group has a different focus, they align in their mission of inclusion:
SEPAC ensures students thrive in school.
Mayor’s Council ensures the city is accessible and inclusive.
Family Network ensures families are supported and connected in the community.
Together, they create a stronger Westfield where everyone belongs.
